Janelle Jones-Carter

Ms. Janelle Jones-Carter is a skilled Attorney-at-Law possessing ten (10) years’ call to the Barbados Bar and has an undying passion for matters of Taxation and Corporate Financial Management. She was awarded a Barbados Exhibition in 2005 for her exemplary performance in Financial Accounting and Law, and today, she is a strategic and goal-driven member of the Barbados Revenue Authority’s senior executive management, having been appointed to the post of General Counsel &Corporate Secretary in May 2018. Ms. Jones-Carter is also currently enrolled as a postgraduate student with the University of London, pursing an intercollegiate Master of Laws (LLM) Degree in Taxation with a concomitant focus on Corporate Finance & Management, Corporate Governance and Compliance, Anti-Money Laundering, Bribery, Corruption and other forms of Financial Crime.

In addition, she serves as a member of the Tax committee of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Barbados (ICAB) and is one of Barbados’ three Country Representatives to the Global Relations Programme in Taxation of the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD). She also specializes in the exchange of information for tax purposes under the United States of America’s Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA) as well as the OECD’s Common Reporting Standard (CRS) and its Base Erosion & Profit Shifting (BEPS) initiative.

Ms. Jones-Carter is deeply committed to reforming the financial landscape of Barbados and as a member of the City of Bridgetown Co-operative Credit Union for the past sixteen (16) years, she is poised to assist in providing the visionary Leadership necessary to propel the Credit Union to new heights through an effective corporate governance framework and the oversight of its financial and strategic management objectives.
